Let’s say you got late to your calculus 3 class and have no idea of what’s going on. You are determine to do well and participate in the class so you want to start getting a general idea of what’s the professor doing.
The first thing you have to do is check what you have.
- At the top left corner it says Ex. 3. Meaning that it’s ok to be lost since this may be harder then the others.
As time goes on in lecture you’ll get more data.
In this case, you can see that this is the exercise that your professor is doing. And as in the first picture there is A, B, C in both, the example instructions and the exercise.
Now that you know that you probably won’t understand. Try to do something else which will provide some benefit to you. For example, Ex.1–3 should be related. If you understand something, or better saying, if you see something you could use on the other exercises, attending to this lecture won’t be a wast of time.
Now, the picture may be too broad for you to concentrate on something. But that also means that you have a lot to choose from. So, take whatever you see first.
If you got no way to be productive just be honest and say it to the professor.
You may get some important information like he’s in section ‘13.7’.
*Go spend your tim somewhere more productive. and get back to it later.
